Steering wheel Rubbing

My MK2 was launched today and she is new to me. Testing and checking everything the fixed wheel is rubbing on 2 spokes at the engine gauge pod. I pulled the wheel off and the nut was loose so I am thinking the captain who moved it for the po did so as the rub was annoying him. I spun it on a rod in my shop and without going the dial indicator route it doesn't look terrible. Question is was there a bushing or washer typically installed behind the wheel? I'm thinking it's just from passing by and grabbing the wheel for the last 24 years took it out of round. Looks like there are plenty of threads to put a 1/4 inch bronze washer or nylon and call it a day. I'll probably do a folding wheel in the near future anyway.

Jim, I put a few white nylon spacer washers on the shaft that I think I bought at Lowe's from the fasteners aisle.  They work fine to keep the wheel spaced out a bit from the pedestal.
