<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>As I mentioned below I changed my transmission oil
on Tuesday. After putting in the proper amount of oil I checked the level
and checked the oil level again after I ran the engine.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> Yesterday, Friday, was the first time since
then that I moved Caprice. When I went to start up the engine I noticed I
had accidentally left the gear shift in forward. I moved the gear shift to
neural and started the engine. I put her in forward and she did not move. I
increased the engine speed, she did not move and I could not see any prop
wash. I slowed the engine down and shifted into neutral then reverse and
forward a few times with the same results. I made sure I was pushing the
shift lever firm enough to work. Caprice did not move.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> I shut the engine down went below and checked
the transmission for oil leaks. Seeing none I unscrewed the transmission
dip stick, wiped it off and placed in back into the transmission without
screwing it in and checked the oil level, The oil level was right at the
mark. I screwed the dip stick back in and stared the engine. As the engine
was running I went back down to the engine/ transmission area looked over
everything and it appeared normal. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I went back up to the cockpit, put the gear shift
into forward and Caprice, which was now tied loosely, started forward. I
put her in reverse and she started moving backward. I put her back into
forward and I could see the prop wash. Next we untied her and went for an
hour long ride in the canals and the transmission worked fine.
</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>My question is, Why did Caprice not go into gear
when I first tried leaving the dock? Does it have anything to do with the fact
that I shifted her back into neutral without the engine running before I started
the engine?</FONT></DIV>
