Catalina Yachts Engineering Bulletin #15
April 8, 1983

It has come to our attention that the lazzarette bulkhead in some Catalina 36's may not be properly fastened to the deck. Improper fastening may allow the bulkhead to flex when the rudder is turned hard to port or starboard and the stop post on the radial wheel contacts the stopper blocks bonded to the deck.

To check the bulkhead fastening, remove the lazzarette floor (only one side required) and observe the bulkhead where the bracket is attached, while turning the wheel hard to port or starboard to engage the stop on the radial wheel.

If the bulkhead flexes excessively, more than 3/16", add screw fasteners through the bulkhead into the deck liner boss as indicated on the enclosed drawings. If you have any questions, please contact the factory.

(Ed note: This applies only to boats manufactured prior to 7/84.)
