Ballpark Cost of a Bottom Job?

Well, it's getting to be that time of year and I think a haul-out is in my near future. This will be my first bottom job with this boat, and my first in the continental US. So I am trying to establish a reasonable cost by which to compair the estimates I am going to call around for. What might a fair price be for a haul-out, 2-3 coats of ablative antifouling, new cutlass bearing, and relaunch in the Norfolk, VA area?

This is probably a good season to get this done. There may be "boat show specials" around that you can take advantage of.

In the Fall of 2007 I paid a total of $1,868.35 for a haulout and two coat ablative paint job. This is broken down to $270 for the haulout and back in, $135 clean and power wash, $40 blocking, $519 for 2 gallon of a ablative paint, $770 for the paint job, and the rest is for items like paint brushes, rollers, sandpaper, etc.

I can't find my bill for 2009, but it was a little less for a one coat paint job and removing five blisters.

The yard charges by the hour plus materials. At that time is was $55 per hour for general labor. Engine and transmision hourily rate is about $20 an hour higher. Now it is higher.
