Default LYC Commodore's Cup

The scratch sheet came out today for Saturdays race, 13 boats split into 2 fleets. I will be racing against a Corsair 750,G-Cat 20,Little Harbour 54,e33,Hunter Passage 42,and a J-80. That gives us a rating band of 105 seconds. That's quit a spread. Forcast is for west winds between 15 and 20 knots, that means reaching both legs which are 9 miles each way. We will be sailing north up the beach from Ft Lauderdale turning at Hillsboro Inlet and finishing back down in Ft Lauderdale. I suspect the 2 multis will do a horizon job on the rest of the fleet, but anything can happen in racing. You can check out the scratch sheet and results at http:www.lyc.org/

Carl
Are the LYC races open to other Yacht Clubs. Over here at the IYC in Punta Gorda we are having a Leukemia Cup Regatta over two week ends which is open to any boat. We have a PHRF Fleet on Mar h 27-28 and the week before that on March 20 we have a one day small boat one design Regatta including an Opti Fleet. I see you have an Opti Fleet that travels so nex year I will send a NOR to the LYC.

I'm not a member at LYC,they open up their commadores cup to other clubs I think because their ocean fleet is not very large. They do however have an excellent dingy progam including Finns,Lazers and Optis. As far as the ocean and Biscayne bay racing, most of the clubs around here welcome all comers. I,m not sure but I believe LYC puts out some national level talent in the dingys

Well Saturday was exciting. 20 to 25 knots of wind out of the west, 8 mile reaching leg north, turn around and reach back south for 8 miles. West wind here makes for really flat water, so the crew did not need to get wet keeping me dry. My wife Suzi has some sore muscles from working the traveler for 2 hours and 17 min. If it wasn't for her hard work I could not have kept the boat in a straight line. We used our #2 jib which is a 140 and a full main, some of the other boats chose to carry their 155 head sail and we saw quit a few round ups. We finished 5th in class, but if the multis had their own fleet we would be 3rd in class, I can live with that. Next race is our clubs first bouy race on the 28th. I'll let you know how it goes.
