I have an '89 Mk1, and this summer, will be upgrading our cool box with an Isotemp refrigeration unit.
It’s the model ISO 42009BA100000 for 4.4 cu.ft. This is the Danfoss compressor type.
My question is where owners have chosen to locate the compressor for optimal performance.
I suspect this question may already have been answered in the previous incarnation of the forum, and if so, please forgive me.

I mounted my compressor just aft of the icebox in the empty space port side in the aft cabin

I took ours out of the locker in the cockpit and moved it to under the aft berth.

Ok - so two possible locations, which one would dissapate the heat best?
We cruise in the Pacific NW, so I suspect the position lower in the vessel closer to our chilly water under the aft berth?

That was my thought process when I took and moved it from the cockpit locker to under the aft berth. The whole area is open under the berth and is much cooler then where it was located. I took and glassed in a wooden shelf in which the compressor sets on and is screwed down to it. Then I took and coiled the copper tubing and it lays on hull of the boat.
Something I was not sure of was the insulation on the tubing and what it was mainly used for. I thought it was for insulation, but Richard Kollmann replied to a email I wrote him a few years back that it was for vibration only. It seems to be working well for me. Just my point of view.
