Hello,
I did a full refit last year including paint. Everything is new for the most part.

Here is what i did,
1. Topside paint.
2. Running rigging.
3. New sails.
4. Radar on stern mast.
5. Sat phone.
6. Two chart plotters.
7. New VHF radio.
8. Added a second fuel tank.
9. Propane caozy cabin heater.
10. New stereo and TV.
11. Sat weather box.
12. Starting battery.
13. 100 amp alternator.
14. All new ports and hatches.
15. Offshore life raft.
16. full engine rebuild.
17. New prop shaft.
Many more little things....
My wife and i have sailed 900 nm since the refit with no probs. The shake down cruise was from ventura to San Diego via catalina island. Had a blast...this is our 7th or 8th sailboat and is now my fav. our last boat was a hardin 45' ketch and the one before that was a catalina 38' ss.

Thanks to all here at cat 36 ia. I have just lurked until now.

Bill,

Your boat is beautiful! Congratulations!

And your boat's website is as well. That's a great photo of the dog (actually I saw photos of both dogs), and I am surprised you haven't posted it in the Dogs on a Boat thread.

I have one question: What weight is your Delta anchor?

Thanks larry,,,

I have had zero time to update the website but thanks anyhoo.

I have owned a number of Catalina yachts over the years but i must state that the catalina 36 mkii is now at the top of the list!

Great site!
Oh and the neo mastiff boat pic was on my catalina 38 s&s.

sorry larry,,,,,

I use the Delta 35 most of the year but when we go to San Miguel Island i put on the Delta 44. I also use all chain with snubbers, stern is a fortress. And oh yes....i installed a new larger windless :)

I have never dragged using the Deltas. My cruising grounds have bottoms that are sand, mixed rock gravel sand, sand with eel grass and just rock. I have many stories of big winds and boats dragging anchor here at the northern channel islands.

Anyhoo,

thanks

WD,

How much of a hassle was it to have your hull painted? Did you do it yourself?

Well the hassle was the money........about 10,000 when it was all said and done. The DE was a charter boat in her past life and had some real battle wounds.

Are you saying that the paint alone was $10k??? Holy cow!

Yuppers close to $10,000. I had no time to do the prep work myself so i had the yard do it. I would guestimate you could get it done for 5 or 6 if you prepped. That 10,000 included the sanding and ding repair plus sand/strip the bottom and new bottom paint also a new rub rail rubber. It also included painted name and shear stripe and last... new gel coat on the transom.

Nice picture attached! Don't look over your right shoulder, though, the Coasties are coming.

Thanks for the info.

Love the website wd and it would really be cool to see a photo essay of all of your projects. How did you arrive at the name Drake Equation for the boat?
