My survey shows an Officail # of CF 6503 HH, I assume that is the registration #

It also has a Hull # of CTYR0374J485.

The surveyor said the 485 on the end means it was built in 1984 as a 1985 model.

But when people ask what my hull # is I think they are looking for the 374 from the middle, meaning it is the 374th hull produced.

Is that right or am I missing somthing?

TIA

Bob

Based upon my HIN and hull number, you are correct. Your hull number is 374.

Congrats on closing! I know you and your family will have great lasting memories...

Based on the number CTYR0374J485...

Your boat "0374" is Hull #374 and was built in Oct 1984 "J4" as a 1985 model "85"...

Some additional information...
Example #1 of HIN Display before Auguist 1st, 1984:

XYZ543211272
XYZ = Manufacturer’s ID Code or MIC
54321 = Hull Serial Number
1272 = Date of Certification

Example #2 of Display of HIN before August 1st, 1984

XYZ54321M73E
XYZ = MIC
54321 = Hull Serial Number
M73E = Date of Certification

On the second example, the letter ”E” determines the month in which the boat was built. Below is what stands for what month:

A = August
B = September
C = October
D = November
E = December
F = January
G = February
H = March
I = April
J = May
K = June
L = July

Example: HIN Format after 1984

XYZ54321E708
XYZ = MIC
54321 = Hull Serial Number
E7 = Date of Certification of Manufacture
08 = Model Year

The letter “E” remains the month the boat was built however, the Coast Guard changed what each letter means. See the example below.

A = January
B = February
C = March
D = April
E = May
F = June
G = July
H = August
I = September
J = October
K = November
L = December
